Day One of 2008 Kansas Relays in the Books - myfoxkc.com

LAWRENCE, KAN.  --  (Press Release) - The 81st Annual Kansas Relays got underway on Wednesday with portions of the decathlon and heptathlon being completed at Memorial Stadium under sunny but windy conditions.

In the men's decathlon, Nick Adcock of Missouri leads the field with 3,905 points after five events in day one.  Kansas sophomore Jacob Breth is the closest Jayhawk competitor, currently in seventh-place with 3,230 points.

The women's heptathlon also began Wednesday, with Minnesota junior Liz Roehrig currently in the lead with 3,591 points.  KU heptathlete Chelsea Helm sits in 12th-place with 2,401 points after one full day of competition.

The decathlon and heptathlon competitions conclude Thursday. Kansas Relays running events begin at 5 p.m. on Thursday and start again at 9 a.m. on Friday. The first field events are at 8 a.m. on Friday. The final day of competition begins at 8 a.m. with the Boy's Discus.
