LAWRENCE — Each and every day, former Shawnee Heights javelin record-setter Iain Trimble feels better about his decision to become a Kansas Jayhawk.

"KU's great," said Trimble, a freshman at the school after setting state and national records last spring at Heights. "We have an Orange Bowl and a national championship under our belt, so the atmosphere is awesome."

Trimble has quickly made his mark for the Kansas track and field team, moving into fourth on KU's All-Time List in just two meets (both victories) with a top throw of 237 feet, 11 inches in the Georgia Invitational on April 11 and finishing first among collegians in Friday's Kansas Relays competition with a throw of 234-11.

"I have a really good coach (Andy Kokhanovsky) and everything I want to do I can do," Trimble said. "I have everything at my fingertips, all the opportunities to become as good as I can be."
